I get annoyed whenever people call places like Chicago and St. Louis &#8220;mid-west&#8221;. It bugs the hell out of me.<\/p>\n<p>I mean.. look, here&#8217;s a map of the U.S.. If we measure out the regions in equal parts we can clearly see that these places are not even close to being mid-west.. they&#8217;re in the mid-EASTern United States.<\/p>\n<p>So whenever you refer to one of these states or cities as mid-west, now you can know precisely how very wrong you are.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ihoby.com\/hoby\/photos\/US-RegionSections.jpg\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px; height: 261px; border: 0px;\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/ihoby.com\/hoby\/photos\/US-RegionSections.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>I know where it comes from through &#8211; it&#8217;s a obviously remnant of the westward land rush, an east-coast centric way of seeing North America.. back when basically all there WAS in white peoples&#8217; reality, was the east coast.<\/p>\n<p>But that doesn&#8217;t excuse the fact that over 200 years have passed since that kind of talk was relevant.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 271px;\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/4\/4f\/United_States_1803-04-1804-03.png\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So I have this pet peeve..
